Powerful and Flexible Design

Actinic v8 features a new intuitive ‘point and click’ interface to provide complete control over the design and layout of the store. This means you get the total flexibility to create and customize a site into a unique design.

• Select from a range of pre-designed themes or mix and match from the theme elements to create a unique design.
• Select from a ready-made library of design ‘snippets’ to be used in a creating a store design.
• Easily edit and customize site color schemes, product catalogue page layouts and variables.
• Use the new ‘design tree’ to easily navigate through the site and gain instant access to any part of your store.
• Use the HTML code editor to format web site content even if you have limited (or no) HTML knowledge.
• Use of PHP code to generate static HTML pages based on the data provided in the content.
• Use the Macromedia Dreamweaver design module to start your design in Dreamweaver and then integrate your design directly with Actinic.

 

Site Deployment and Client Control (Designer only)

As well as providing complete design customization Actinic v8 also offers new functionality to enable professional web designers to customize the user interface providing new possibilities for deploying the site to the client. This means you can create intelligent designs with few limitations on how user-defined content is laid out including:

• Customizing the client start up screen and product name to enable greater flexibility by creating a uniquely branded solution.
• Customizing the user interface by creating and configuring tabs for variables that are presented in the user interface.
• Specifying which tabs appear for the client and restrict/allow choice of design in content.
• Deploy the site with Catalog or Business Clients giving a choice of easy to use client store management options (without any design functionality).
• Advanced Marketing and Merchandising

Actinic v8 introduces a range of advanced marketing and merchandising features, some of which are similar to those seen on the larger, online retail sites. These new features, combined with the existing marketing and search engine optimization functionality, means that Actinic v8 now provides a complete range of sophisticated marketing and merchandising. These tools are of vital importance in assisting in the promotion and marketing of an online store and therefore to build customer loyalty and increase sales.

The new Actinic v8 features include:

• Automatic generation of ‘Best Seller’ and ‘New Products’ lists to showcase and promote best selling items and products just introduced to the store.

Enhanced Store Management

Actinic v8 combines a number of new store management features together with the migration of some existing features previously only seen in higher level, more expensive Actinic products. This new functionality is designed to help increase efficiency, flexibility and security in the management of your online store and therefore save time in processing orders enabling a better service to your customers.

These new (or migrated) features include:

• One-click order completion.
• Line price editing on the desktop.
• Using bar codes to process orders.
• Enabling ‘Customer Account’ creation in Catalog (previously only in Business).
• Improved tax reporting.
• User logon control.
• Encrypting credit card data on the desktop.
• Label support in order processing

Also introduced as an option for Business users are the Multi-Site and Multi-User options providing an easy upgrade for online businesses creating multiple sites or that require operation in a multi-user environment or both!

Flexible Product Catalogue

The existing Actinic Catalog product catalogue has now been upgraded so that users can now sell ‘digital’ products (such as music or image files). This is enabled via the digital download feature previously only included in Actinic Business.

In addition a new feature provides the flexibility to set up categories so that certain sections or products can be categorized where they require specific variables. These will not appear on other products. For instance, all products classified as “Books” and require “ISBN numbers” or all “CD’s” require an “Artist”.
